Be we all reminded that, in the Lordâs own way and time, no blessings will be withheld from His faithful Saints.Meanwhile, mortal misunderstandings can make mischief in a marriage. Such a marriage will continue to grow in the celestial realm. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. There is substantial doctrinal dispute between the LDS Church and its offshoots as to whether celestial marriage is plural or [I]t is borne in mind that at this time the new law of marriage for the Church—marriage for eternity, He knew the voice of God—he knew the commandment of the Almighty to him was to go forward—to set the example, and establish Celestial plural marriage. He knew that he had not only his own prejudices and pre-possessions to combat and to overcome, but those of the whole Christian world...; but God ... had given the commandment.Mormon fundamentalists cleave to the view that there is no celestial marriage that is not plural, while the LDS Church claims otherwise. It involves two imperfect people. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.âThat proclamation on the family helps us realize that celestial marriage brings greater possibilities for happiness than does any other relationship.Scriptures declare that âit is lawful that [a man] should have one wife, and they twain shall be one flesh, and all this that the earth might answer the end of its creation.âOur Heavenly Father declared, âThis is my work and my gloryâto bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.âThe family proclamation also reminds us that âhusband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other.âSuch a reward requires more than a hopeful wish. In fact, each marriage starts with two built-in handicaps.
