And since i really enjoy my Rotring 600 mechanical pencil i had to get one myself. The 800 is more of a pocket carry for lists and notes, etc.Thanks for your detailed answer!
Its hexagonal shape prevents the pencil from sliding off a tilted or smooth surface. Knurled grip is very nice. The 500 is lighter overall because it has a plastic barrel instead of brass. It's very similar but not knurled at the cap or grip, and without the text on the cap either. I'd estimate that a 600 is thinner than a wooden pencil by a fraction, and that the 925 is noticeably thicker than a wooden pencil by a mm or two. Also know that if you even consider the Rotring RapidPro or 800, that the RapidPro has a less aggressive grip than the 600, but still good enough, and that the 800 has even less aggressive grip, and isn't ideal for long writing sessions if your hands get sweaty. When it came out, the pencil was available in 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.7 mm, 0.9 mm and the grip and lead harness indicator sections were silver while the rest of the pencil was black I enjoyed it, but didn't feel too bad passing it along. We're talking 600's for $20, and 800's for $42, with only a few dollars for shipping -- maybe $3? my daily carry.love it, im my opinion the best looking industrial style pen going.I picked up a Levenger L-Tech 3.0 as a compromise and it's fairly nice, especially for the $39 for which I purchased it. Maybe an hour or two at most before you need to dry the sweat off it and your hands. Different versions can take 0.35mm, 0.5mm and 0.7mm.

The 925 also has a more aggressive knurled grip. A few months ago someone posted a topic finding their grailpen, a Rotring 600. The cylindrical non-slip knurled grip and heavy barrel give the pencil a perfect tactile experience, which is difficult to find in other brands.
