It is referenced in the text of the book, but I can't find it anywhere! English lords war against each other, many Saxons are still Pagan, and the remains of Roman Sorcery still plague the land. The Saxons - in line with history - are disliked to hated.

I think arguing either way is pretty silly. If you don't like this version there are plenty out there that paint all Christians of the period as venal and cruel. This is reflected in Iron Age Europe in the Tierkrieger depictions from the Germanic sphere, among others. The idea of it being a translation of a game written by a Saxon monk has me in stitches.
