1408, A book written by renowned horror author Stephen King, is a well written and very mysterious book. A popular song from the fifties suggests that love makes the world go ‘round, but coincidence would probably be a better bet. It's the first fiction audiobook I've listened to, and it was surprisingly good. Something about the way the room works its evil on Mike Enslin just really gets me. The final scene is of the gutted room, where an apparition of Mike looks out the window while smoking a cigarette. Mike asks why he hasn't been killed yet and she informs him that guests enjoy free will: he can relive the past hour over and over again, or use their "express checkout system". the way that Stephen king write in unlike any other writer. Pas d’autre mots. That would ruin it. Parts of his childhood were spent in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where his father's family was at the time, and in Stratford, Connecticut.

Mike survives, and he and Lily reconcile, though Lily is skeptical of his experience. The end of book is really scary :)Preferred the movie and Stephen King does not do any of his book justice by narrating them himself.well the novel was not bad neither good , i did not find it scary nor thrilling... i do not know if it is because of the translation because i read it in Arabic or because it is not scary itself , king usually writes much more better than this i do not mean that he must be perfect ( nobody's perfect ) but he usually is good even in short stories ...BTW i liked the plot and the main idea he started with , it was classical , a haunted room in a hotel , and then a brave writer comes and try to discwell the novel was not bad neither good , i did not find it scary nor thrilling... i do not know if it is because of the translation because i read it in Arabic or because it is not scary itself , king usually writes much more better than this i do not mean that he must be perfect ( nobody's perfect ) but he usually is good even in short stories ...BTW i liked the plot and the main idea he started with , it was classical , a haunted room in a hotel , and then a brave writer comes and try to discover the mysteries of this room , he wrote a lot about when mike was talking with the hotel owner but he did not write a lot when mike entred the room i was waiting for a long discription too but there were not i felt like he was just trying to finish the novel , anyway it is written on the book cover ( and other stories ) where are the other stories ? This ending is the default ending on the Blu-ray release and two-disc collector's edition.

I think I had a bit more terror the first time I read through, without knowing the outcome. Olin claims that the room was successfully destroyed and that it will no longer hurt anyone else.
