It produces a good result with the fine nib in my Pelikan M600, but I personally prefer the effect with my Parker 45 medium nib, where a very slight variation in the density of the line becomes apparent: just enough to let you know it was written with wet ink, but without looking uneven. The fastest drying ink was Waterman Black, but it wasn't dark enough for my taste.
This is the first time I’ve used Pelikan ink. Of the four pen brands mentioned, only Sheaffer's ink is 'wet', very free-flowing and slow-drying on many papers; all the others are 'dry', more viscous and slow-flowing. Pelikan inks are known to be slow-flowing and dry-writing making them ideal for those fountain pens that tend to be slightly too generous with their ink usage; broad and italic nibs are typical of the trait. Its deep blue makes it one of my favorite inks overall, up there with Pilot Iroshizuku Kon Peki. it is very undersaturated, pale, light blue. Hence Parker will always recommend Parker Quink inks. This will certainly become my every day ink. Pellikan 4001 ink series is the economical line of Pelikan inks. Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black has an almost legendary mystique about it. It's not making my "favorite black inks" list, but it's perfectly fine. it is very cheap and writes well, doesn't feather or bleed but it is not a very inspiring ink. The Pelikan ink has a lovely dense colour that is a bluish shade of black, rather than a blackish shade of blue. It's a perfectly okay black. These features are not lost on other brands, so other pens can benefit from the premium ink in terms of optimal flow. On the color swab, you can even see a hint of purple giving it an added depth that you don’t see in a lot of blue inks. it is very undersaturated, pale, light blue.
