Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black has an almost legendary mystique about it. The Pelikan ink has a lovely dense colour that is a bluish shade of black, rather than a blackish shade of blue. It's a perfectly okay black. These features are not lost on other brands, so other pens can benefit from the premium ink in terms of optimal flow. On the color swab, you can even see a hint of purple giving it an added depth that you don’t see in a lot of blue inks. it is very undersaturated, pale, light blue.
