Read on to find out whether or not the Stone Garden can bring some much needed color to this year’s line up. Maybe the next M6xx will be more to your taste.I get the ‘soothing’ vibe, I think, but do stone gardens typically include blue stones…?Love it.
Regardless of what it ends up being, I’ll be happy to add this one to the flock. In the suggestion box I politely insert a mention of the usefulness of being able to edit after posting in haste.Ha. There are a lot of great Pelikan pens out there (though I’m admittedly biased). The dark blue of this M800 is a nice shade and the marbling on the barrel shows some depth with a subtle bit of pearlesence. Have you tried to get a few of those nibs custom ground? I think we’re just too small of a market to cater to. And I’m thinking about the irony – I’m loosing the joy of owning Pelikan (and I have a long history with this brand) because of the nibs. I too look forward to meeting the pen in person. Love these brown pallets. This one definitely would have no issues being used in a professional environment. What do others think of this?I use several iroshizuku inks indeed one if my favourites is asa-gao but I also like kon-peki. Understated enough to use at work. I hoped something definitive had issued from Hanover in the two weeks since you posted the announcement. Many of Pelikan’s birds without a discrete ink window are able to pull this off. “Stone gardens are known for their serenity and peaceful effect. It’s a beauty! It’s looking like $405-425 is the best price for those shopping from outside of the EU. I appreciate your kind words. Will my bank balance accommodate yet another purchase – it’ll have to! It’s a nice feature but one that hardly ever comes into play. For instance, I think the blue of the M120 wouldn’t have worked at all. The combination of opaque dark blue and the sophisticated marbled structure with blue and brown colors give a noble and elegant look to this series.”While dark blues and browns are not the palette of most of the stone gardens that I have ever encountered, I’m willing to allow Pelikan some artistic license provided that the pen is able to bring something new to the table. The piston can be serviced by unscrewing the nib and applying a very tiny drop of pure silicone grease to the inside of the barrel. I would love an M600 with the blue resin but with a different main color. I hope so, my Aspens are my favorite pens.I have seen pics of the Aspen in the past and agree that the color scheme here is certainly reminiscent.Once again, a great preview Josh. It is nice to have something a bit different in the line-up. Sorry, your blog cannot share posts by email. Always room in the flock for another. In fact, it’s eye-catching and beautiful. Bexley also had an Aspen edition of their Submariner Grande. The colors are certainly subdued enough while still being interesting.Pelikan should hire you to take the photos. Diamine works really well in my ‘wet’ writers such as Pelikan.
The noble effort of Fritz Schimpf notwithstanding, the photos are not altogether impressive.I.e., I’m sure the pen will have even more to be admired than the likely hurried photos were able to render.Fritz-Schimpf got real world photos of the Vibrant Orange and Stone Garden out very quickly which I appreciate. I know the pattern on the barrel doesn’t appeal to everyone. This garden gets more calming by the minute.Haha. Hopefully the Stone Garden will be much more to your liking. Thank you for your review.I think Pelikan chose wisely with this shade of blue as it is neither too light or too dark IMHO. I may change my mind; I often do.
I’m just not sure if the M800 is too big a pen for him. Plus, I love blue pens.
