The worst part about the world building was how fixated it was on Japan... and it didn’t even give the name of the country it was set in, which just rubs me the wrong way.. but this isn’t even the worst bit of sharin no Kuni. Its got a lot of things going for it, from a script that to some degree, deconstructs the entire visual novel genre, to the fact that it has some very well-written characters and a top-notch fan translation.

Personally? It’s a much slower game, with a more slice of life pacing. Sharin no Kuni doesn’t have the kind of routes you might except from a Visual Novel. Entering a heroine’s route doesn’t affect anything except the epilogue after the ending (and in the case of Sachi and Touka you get some extra scenes during the main story). Sharin no Kuni is a good game, but it was nothing like what I was expecting. The slice of life lasts too long, and it’s not the best in the world. After I finished the amazing I’ll say this at the very beginning. Maybe I came in with the wrong mindset? As for the voice acting, it’s pretty good, I have no gripes with it.I have a bad habit of reading reviews as I work on my own reviews and before I play the games. People known as Special High Class Individuals work one on one with criminals or rehabilitees who are given a unique punishment or obligation they have to work towards.
