Since founding the firm in 1985, Doyle and Dolores have developed economic enhancement strategies for nearly 1,000 Downtowns nationwide – ranging from Dutch Harbor, Alaska, to West Palm Beach, Florida.

Using their extensive experience in Downtown economic development and city planning, Doyle and Dolores have developed a unique methodology for improving Downtown economies. Blending four vital components – community engagement, market analysis, strategic action for success, and a clear definition of roles and responsibilities for implementing those actions – this approach has been highly successful in transforming declining Downtowns into economically sustainable, sought-after destinations.

In 1992, the National League of Cities (NLC) asked HyettPalma to bring this methodology to its members on a grand scale. The result was America Downtown^®, a hands-on technical assistance program offered jointly by NLC and HyettPalma. To date, over 150 cities of all sizes have participated in America Downtown^®.
