On July 9, 2018, the movie's title was revealed to be Dragon Ball Super: Broly, revealing the unknown villain to be the titular character Broly who first appeared in the 1993 film Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan.

Dragon Ball Super Broly will be the most impactful movie ever in the entire history of Dragon Ball and change a lot of Dragon Ball as we know.Like, from the trailers it sounds like they are going to change up the age factor of Goku and Vegeta.

That scene with Grandpa Gohan had a special place in our heart, just simply because of how beautiful it was, but now we’re being told, that’s not exactly how it is going to be.Anyways, the other change everyone is talking about is Bardock. We first came to know about him through a special, Bardock The Father of Goku.It resulted in one of the most popular and iconic scenes of Dragon Ball where the low class Saiyan warrior confronts emperor Frieza, and dies like the badass he is with a smirk on his face thinking about how his son will one day avenge him. This careless ruthless blood-soaked red bandana wearing Saiyan Warrior Bardock became fan favorite just the way he is.Now, in 2018 a movie is coming out, Dragon Ball Super Broly that will most likely be telling us that Iconic Sacrifice Scene never happened, heck Bardock never even wore that Red Bandana. Goku is back to training hard so he can face the most powerful foes the universes have to offer, and Vegeta is keeping up right beside him. In a matter of fact, that would make the most logical sense and be way less contradictory than what’s likely about to happen as discussed earlier; even if we go by DB Minus. If we look back later, we will see in Dragon Ball Minus the planet getting destroyed was not shown, that is DB Minus technically didn’t confirm that Bardock wasn’t there at the very last moment.

Thinking to himself, Bardock tells Kakarot to get good and strong, before correcting himself and calling him Goku.

But that is only the case because this movie does everything to fill as well as warm your nostalgia for Dragonball while doing almost nothing new in the grand scheme of things, in fact it does the opposite of even that. We all have different opinions, let’s just discuss and not fight. How I feel about the change is, I’m ok with Bardock being portrayed to be more caring towards his family than he was originally shown to be. He needs to be strong si... Take your favorite fandoms with you and never miss a beat. Now, I’m going to share my opinion on it, and what I think would be better.

In case anyone didn't notice, the broly trailer shows a brief scene with Bardock saying "goodbye" to baby goku. So, that’s probably not the case either. So what we most likely have in hand is, a changed Family Man Bardock, and this Bardock didn’t die while trying to take down Frieza head on.That’s what is most likely to happen. Intending to wipe out the Saiyans anyway, Frieza does not see a problem with Bardock's allegation, and somewhat patiently listens to Bardock's speech, staking out the perfect opportunity to commence his genocide. But when they suddenly find themselves against an unknown Saiyan, they discover a terrible, destructive force. Capable of going toe to toe with Frieza. Unlike his younger son, he has a tanner skin-tone and his eyes are more defined and sterner, much like his elder son.

Now, in 2018 a movie is coming out, Dragon Ball Super Broly that will most likely be telling us that Iconic Sacrifice Scene never happened, heck Bardock never even wore that Red Bandana. Maybe you have a better idea, that can change our mind! Eventually, Goku and Bardock stop fighting and Bardock asks him his name and his son reveals his adopted name Goku.

Then it makes sense in the anime continuity where the Bardock special is the universally accepted origin of him, the acceptance is of such a level that it was acknowledged in the manga as well during the fight against Frieza, when Frieza in a flashback remembers Bardock, and Bardock was shown to be exactly as seen in the special. And in …

There are not actually any manga panels showing it again. Now, from the trailer alone we know for a fact, that the movie will extend it, we will get lots of more scenes, obviously including the origin story of Broly. Here’s what could be the bad news for fans hoping to still at least get that Bardock sacrifice scene. I know that it was already official that DBM rendered the OVA non-canon(even though Akria incorporated "non canon" bardock in the original DB manga) but this movie puts rest to any doubt about Bardock OVA's canonicity. We see Bardock flying in a spaceship with another Saiyan.

As noted by Raditz and Frieza, Bardock bears a striking resemblance to Goku: he is a tall man of muscular built with black hair.
