The tips on these pens can be fragile so you need to be careful when cleaning them and taking them apart. I have used rotring isograph for many years and find they are the most reliable of the technical pens (better than rapidograph) particularly if you avoid nib sizes less than 0.25 or greater than 0.50. The nib, & even the fine wire, can take it -- the challenge is my needing a very steady hand, and very good small jeweller's pliers to hold the wire just above the nib, and then to drop it absolutely straight down in.
