All in all I am wearing this disc out in the car on my commute, after a couple of weeks of heavy rotation it is not getting old at all. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote. His vocals, his songwriting, all add something which we have missed in SB albums of late - that special extra bit of class and intelligence we all knew and loved. I have been a Spock's Beard fan from the beginning.
The first few albums with Nick at the mic were enjoyable but not, how shall we say, epic. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote. I am not an Enchant fan (not that I hate them, just never have heard any of their material), so I don't really have any previous Ted experience. Although he has a great voice I always found Enchant's material to be rather generic in some ways and just was not sure how this was all going to work with The Beard. Before that, I figured that this Beard album would be DOA without the presence of Nick D. I mean, how much turmoil and staff changes can a band take? Get the special edition if you can. It's the Beard back to their brilliant best. I am not an Enchant fan (not that I hate them, just never have heard any of their material), so I don't really have any previous Ted experience.
Not because Neal Morse has returned to the fold, he hasn't but he does contribute to a few songs. Excellent. It just got better by realeasing it on heavy vinyl. Each album, however, got better and better, culiminating in X, which was altogether enjoyable and was 85-90% there on the compositional factor. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote. The album is the first without drummer/vocalist Nick D'Virgilio, who was replaced by Enchant vocalist Ted Leonard and former touring drummer Jimmy Keegan. Spock's Beard seem to get better and better with each album, and the new line-up has produced a classic with virtually no flaws. From the first track this album grabbed me and I couldn't stop listening. The combination of these musicians just have something that clicks and this album is a very strong one from them.

Even though Neal isn't on this release I still really like it. I am a long time Spock's fan, and like many was crushed when Neal Morse departed the band. Another brilliant release from this great american prog band, faultless!
I am happy to say that these guys have exceeded all of my expectations with this album. this as to be my favourite spocks beard album a joy from begining to end up there with yes,s frigile as one of my favourite prog rock albums. I was already familiar with Ted Leonard through his work with Enchant and had even had the chance to see him live once. Our payment security system encrypts your information during transmission. Both new boys seem to have settled in nicely. Not because Neal Morse has returned to the fold, he hasn't but he does contribute to a few songs. Accessible prog with superb arrangements and musicianship of a high technical quality.
Spock's always brought the epic along with the fun. If you were a fan of the Beard ever, get this. Brief Nocturnes... was produced by Rich Mouser, Alan Morse and John Boegehold. I turned my friend onto them who turned me onto Dream Theater. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote. If you have not heard Spocks before, this is a brilliant introduction and the back catalogue is awesome. I honestly think this album ranks right up with the best in the band's catalogue.
