Due to his imitation of Hohenheim's body in Xerxes, Father's second form is a container which looks identical in appearance to Hohenheim, excluding hair and skin color, hairstyle, clothing, a few additional wrinkles, and a lack of glasses. So basically I don't believe they are the same since I believe that Father has like eighty percent of the souls instead of splitting them fifty/fifty with Hohenheim. Thanks for contributing an answer to Anime & Manga Stack Exchange!

As the solar eclipse that Father needs to enact his plan is drawing near, Pride is defeated and trapped under a huge dome of the earth by the protagonists.

As he begins to fall back, Ed and Al rush to his aid, holding him up so that he might keep up the fight and their grateful father redoubles his efforts, straining his Philosopher's Stone. Exhausted by all these attacks, Father uses his last strength to blasts all his foes away with a tremendous surge of energy. Father is the primary antagonist in the Fullmetal Alchemist manga and second anime series.

There, he taught Alchemy to the population and led to the creation of Alkahestry, the Xinese form of Alchemy which uses the flow of ki running all over the world. Now, Father divided his Stone to create the Homunculi.

7 Can't Defeat: Hohenheim. Also how is it that when in the tunnels below Risenbol that Pride is capable of nearly defeating Father?

As the alchemists recoil in horror as the Xerxesians wander about, grateful to have returned to the world of the living, Edward finally makes his way to the surface.

This earned him a messiah-like status in the Amestrian legends as the "Philosopher of the East".

He is the oldest Homunculus and the progenitor of the Homunculi, creating them directly or indirectly. Ultimately, in his final moments, Father's motivation is revealed to be freedom from the laws of the universe itself, and his dedication to his goals makes him all the more menacing.

However, he met the "Dwarf in the Flask" who taught him Alchemy and tricked the rulers of Xerxes to create a Philosopher's Stone.

Despite his desperate and pathetic pleas, Truth states that stealing God's power doesn't make him a god rather than a cunning thief. Learn more about Stack Overflow the company

Losing sight of his own unique, supreme, and special gifts and talents, Homunculus lost much of his self-confidence, and this low self-esteem caused him to fill himself up with hubris and a desire to become a being superior to even God himself.

Luckily, Scar activates the Alkahestric reverse-Nationwide Transmutation Circle, which nullifies Father's "buffer" and grants true alchemy to Amestrians.

Both are similar but obviously are different such as Wrath's aging. Father replies that he can create and proves Hohenheim wrong by resurrecting the Xerxesians with his body. While Father's scheme was to repeat his actions at Xerxes to create another Philosopher's Stone, he now requires an eclipse to become a "perfect being", ("the sun symbolizes a man, and the moon symbolizes a woman, when they come together they become a perfect being" -Throughout the first half of the story, Father is mostly seen sitting on a stone throne with many pipes leading into it. His blood was used to create the Dwarf in the Flask and thus they already had a natural bond. After 7 years of conflict spreading throughout the country Father had Wrath initiate an extermination order and had the State Alchemists (alchemists working for the military) sent to the battlefield and tasked to wipe out the entire ethnic. Father then destroys the ground below them but Mei, who can still use Alkahestry, manages to use Father's own energy to cancel his attack.

Shortly after, they learn that Mustang and his most trusted subordinates have defected.

Let it be noted that neither are human at this point. (Miles away, Hohenheim is having the exact same dream.) He uses the pipes to spread the Philosopher's Stone beneath the nation of Amestris. At some point, he stepped back into the shadows to secretly manipulate the events, in order to prepare his real goal. It's not known how many went into each, but I'd guess around 10,000 or so (even Wrath, whose souls just killed each other until one remained).
Hopefully he won't get overshadowed by the others. How is it that Father's table with all that stuff on it hasn't overturned or anything? Due to the sacrifices, Father managed to absorb the entity beyond the gate and now has the "power of God"' within him with the Amestrian souls he absorbed keeping it in check, making him the "perfect being".
While Father spent the next hundreds of years making Homunculi, using his powers, and ruling a nation Hohenheim made a family. Father is still able to counter it, destroying Ed's prosthetic arm, but this finally makes him reach his limit. How could Father create so many Philosopher Stones if he himself is only one Stone?

He is normally seen in the cavity beneath Central in which he and the Homunculi reside, sitting on a stone or cement throne with numerous pipes leading to it.
