(Rick Majewski/Chicago Sun-Times via AP)The sky over the Hudson River will be filled with nearly two dozen jets Thursday.As part of their first visit to the United States since 2008, the British Royal Air Force “Red Arrows” will team with the F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, the Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy’s Blue Angels prior to the New York Air Show at Stewart International Airport Aug. 24-25, according to an Air Force news release.The demonstrations along the Manhattan skyline will feature a nine-ship Red Arrow formation; two F-35A Lightning II stealth aircraft; six F-16 Fighting Falcons from the Thunderbirds, and six F/A 18 Hornets from the Blue Angels.The jets are expected to perform at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.“All aircraft will follow the Hudson River down to Liberty Island, then proceed back up the river,” the news release said.“We’ve never done a Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, Red Arrows flight over the Hudson before,” Air Force demo team spokesman Maj.
