This Shelby Cobra replica is a Classic Roadsters kit that was reportedly built in 1990-91 and purchased by the seller from its first owner in 1993. Its good to keep in touch here as there is a vendor or two promising what you want to hear but don't deliver. I also updated it. And Gary sold the company again in the summer of 2003 to Don Scott, an employee.Don moved the company to Minnesota and rebranded it Classic Roadsters II. Jay Kowalik and Ed Combs, owners of Classics by Elite are very excited about the opportunity to bring a very well engineered car back to the graces it once had. Just another vacant building now.

Proprietary parts maybe hard to find but can usually be made or an alternative will do. This is a turn key Cobra, you jump in and drive it with no issues at all. This Cobra is powered by Fords 351 Windsor V8 Engine with extensive Edelbrock modification and puts out 400hp paired with a 5-Speed manual Tremec 3550 transmission. Don will assume all backorders and open orders currently held by IMAR so no customer will be left hanging. Ultimately, Don filed for CR II’s bankruptcy in February 2009. but it was part of another thread. The company was founded in 1979 by Gary Rutherford.

After sucking the cash and reputation out of CR Ltd, they eventually closed it down.Gary reacquired the name in the early 1990s and resumed production of their Sebring and Sebring MX (Austin Healy 5000) and the Badlands RT (a “Hummer type” kit). The new company name will be Classic Roadsters II. Gary was more focused on Leisure Industries, a sport boat manufacturer. The buyer dropped the unique product lines and used the Classic Roadsters Ltd name solely for marketing purposes. And by March 3, 2009, CR II’s web site was shut down.I believe Great Lakes Replicas either bought the assets or took over the bankrupt firm. It is almost ALWAYS the driver who makes the difference, NOT the machine!
